Hello,

In this article, you will discover a secret known by less than 1% of bloggers. This secret is what separates a great blog; one which is read again and again from a mediocre one.

It is not about great content. It is not about SEO. It is not about being a celebrity. Instead, it's all about positioning. Or how I call it - "being the cool kid in the schoolyard".

Let me tell you a thing or two about positioning. You write in a competitive market and unless your articles are about a micro-niche (like the materials used in building an LCD display), chances are that there are a lot more blogs out there about your topic.

Plus, your content may not be unique or exclusive at all. It may be the same rehearsed information as everyone else, but that's not a bad thing because you can even "borrow" your competitor's posts and still get tons of interested readers.

Position Yourself Here's how: You will position yourself. You will build an image; an avatar that is unique to your market. You may be the fun guy or you may be the serious one. You may be the dreamer or the realist. You may be the guy that is an advocate for the people or you may be the critic. In any case, you need an image.

To better understand my point, let's all return to high-school again. In high-school, the ones with the best positioning were the most popular people. It was a "be first or be different" kind of mentality. Be the first person to own a car, the first one to wear a leather jacket, the first one with a cool hairstyle, the first one to own the coolest new phone, the first person to show up at school with the latest game console, the first person to start smoking and the first one to...you get the idea.

The same principle applies in blogging. You need to either be the first one doing a certain thing or you need to be different than everyone else. For example, let's say that all your fellow bloggers keep the same dry and dull tone to their articles. Differentiate yourself and make your articles explode with excitement and passion. Use readership devices. Make your articles interesting to read or add suspense!

Let's say that all your fellow bloggers do is cover the technical aspect of a product. You should cover the functional one and show a case study of how the new phone performed in a one day test. Say to them how you've finished work two hours earlier and spent the rest of the day driving for the pleasure of it. Or how your call dropped just while you are asking for a date with that special someone you've been trying to get the nerve to talk to forever.

The bottom line? Position yourself in the most unique way possible. I can't stress how important this actually is.
